Juniors Programme
We have decided to set-up a Junior Programme to mentor young bikers.
- Learning to ride a motorcycle is an emerging life-skill.
- It is possible to ride safely and incident free
- Many young people want to ride motorcycles – but do not know where to start
- It is currently not possible for an under-18 to be licensed in Kenya
- Unlicensed riders are not allowed to access public roads.
Click on a tab below for more information.
Parent of under-18 bikers need to give adequate support through activity coordination, consent & finances.
- The under-18’s shall be registered in a WhatsApp group for juniors – parents need to give consent for the children’s contacts to be added to the group.
- Parents need to arrange transport from storage to activity location by:
- Trailer
- Pillioned by licensed rider
- Transported separately
- Medical insurance for riders cannot be overlooked.
- It is important that riders have appropriate certified riding gear:
- Helmet (closed face, modular). Open face helmets not recommended.
- Leather gloves
- Riding boots (tall motorcross boots recommended).
- Knee pads
- Reflective vest (outer)
- Impact vest (inside)
- Abrasion proof jacket & pants
- Optional – Balaclava, Airbag vest.
Bicycle gear is not recommended.
Please contact us if you’d like help in deciding motorcycle style and engine capacity.
The motorcycle should have:
- Functional headlights
- Rear Brake-light
- Indicators (front & rear)
- Front & rear brakes
- Rear-view mirrors
- Battery.
- Radial tires are recommended over Nylon tires
- Junior members should have a strong interest to learn and participate in planned activities.
- Most activities will be scheduled for the school breaks and will include:
- Training sessions with certified full-time trainers
- Junior group rides on private roads or on low traffic murram roads
- Training on bike maintenance, first-aid, responding to emergencies
